The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has released the list of electoral committee members that will oversee the conduct of its primaries for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidential elections across states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The party said the committees would supervise the primary elections in their respective states to ensure transparency, fairness and credibility in the selection of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the list released by the party, prominent politicians, legal practitioners, academics and party stakeholders were appointed into the various committees across the six geopolitical zones.

In the South-East zone, Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji was named chairman of the Abia State electoral committee, while Prof. Osita Ogbu will head the committee in Anambra State.

The party also appointed Dr. Peter Onigah as chairman for Ebonyi State, Chief Teddy Obey for Enugu State and Comrade Babatunde Ali for Imo State.

For the South-South zone, Dr. Clement Agiangie was named chairman of the Akwa Ibom committee, while Engr. Biokpo Awara will lead the Bayelsa committee.

Other appointments in the region include Iliya Kwajafa for Cross River State, Dr. Kabiru Umoru for Delta State, Barr. Fredrick Owotorufa for Edo State and Dr. Osusu Osusu for Rivers State.

In the South-West zone, Akinlade Olagoke was appointed chairman for Ekiti State, while Alhaji Sidi Abdul Bomi will head the Lagos State electoral committee.

Barr. Ojeh Jimmy was named chairman for Ogun State, Hon. Babatunde Daodu for Ondo State, Hon. Oladejo Yinka for Osun State and Comrade Adeolu Adewuyi for Oyo State.

The NDC said the committees are expected to coordinate and monitor the conduct of primaries in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

The development comes as the party intensifies preparations for its nationwide primaries and internal elections ahead of the 2027 polls.

Party leaders have repeatedly assured aspirants and members that the process would be transparent, peaceful and inclusive, while warning against acts capable of undermining the integrity of the exercise.

The NDC had earlier announced that direct primaries for state assembly positions would hold at constituency levels, while House of Representatives, Senate, governorship and presidential affirmations would be conducted at local government headquarters nationwide.
