The Ndigbo for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT) has dismissed the reported political alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the movement poses no threat to the re-election chances of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Friday, the group declared that the alleged Obi-Kwankwaso collaboration under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would “crumble like a house of cards” against the influence of the former Southeast governors’ forum reportedly led by Dave Nweze Umahi.

The forum claimed that the Umahi-led political structure is strategically positioned to mobilize millions of Igbo votes for President Tinubu across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas during the 2027 presidential election.

According to the statement signed by National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Peter Ozor, NDI-ABAT pledged total loyalty and collaboration with the Southeast former governors’ bloc in support of Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The group further argued that the opposition coalition allegedly championed by Obi and Kwankwaso lacks the internal cohesion and political strength needed to challenge the ruling party in the Southeast region and among Igbo voters residing outside the region.

NDI-ABAT also raised concerns over what it described as possible attempts by supporters of the Obi-Kwankwaso movement to instigate violence during the 2027 electioneering period, warning that the group would resist any actions capable of threatening peace and democratic stability in the Southeast.

As part of its political mobilisation strategy, the pro-Tinubu forum announced plans to organise a “2026 Pro Tinubu Summit” on June 12, Nigeria’s Democracy Day, as well as a proposed “Southeast Two Million Man Rally” scheduled for July 2026.

According to the group, the events are aimed at consolidating support for President Tinubu in the Southeast and preventing a repeat of the electoral performance recorded by Obi’s Labour Party in the region, Lagos, and Abuja during the 2023 general elections.

NDI-ABAT maintained that President Tinubu’s expected victory in the Southeast would be secured under the political leadership of Senator Umahi and the former Southeast governors’ forum.
