The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2026 ended in grand style on Saturday night at the Eko Hotel and Suites, with some of Africa’s biggest stars emerging winners across film, television and digital entertainment categories.

Actors, filmmakers, producers and content creators from across the continent gathered in Lagos to celebrate excellence in African storytelling, acting, directing, scriptwriting and digital creativity.

Among the biggest winners of the night were Uzor Arukwe, who clinched the Best Lead Actor award for “Colours of Fire,” and Linda Ejiofor, who won Best Lead Actress for “The Serpent’s Gift.”

Veteran Nollywood stars Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo also received Industry Merit Awards in recognition of their immense contributions to African cinema.

The award ceremony, broadcast live across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, highlighted the rapid growth and global relevance of African entertainment.

“My Father’s Shadow” emerged as one of the biggest productions of the night, winning Best Movie, Best Director and Best Writing in a Movie, while “To Kill a Monkey” dominated technical and acting categories including Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Supporting Actor.

Best Director

  • “My Father’s Shadow” – Akinola Davies Jr (WINNER)

Best Lead Actor

  • “Colours of Fire” – Uzor Arukwe (WINNER)

Best Lead Actress

  • “The Serpent’s Gift” – Linda Ejiofor (WINNER)

Best Supporting Actor

  • “To Kill a Monkey” – Bucci Franklin (WINNER)

Best Supporting Actress

  • “The Herd” – Linda Ejiofor (WINNER)

Industry Merit Awards

  • Sola Sobowale (WINNER)
  • Kanayo O. Kanayo (WINNER)

Trailblazer Award

  • Uche Montana (WINNER)

Best Digital Content Creator

  • “Leave To Live” – Emmanuel Kanaga and Sophia Chisom (WINNER)

Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa)

  • “Lisabi (A Legend is Born)” – Lateef Adedimeji (WINNER)

Best Scripted Series

  • “Inimba” – Siphosethu Tshapu, Thandi Ramathesele, Yolanda Ndhlovu (WINNER)

Best Unscripted M-Net Original

  • “Nigerian Idol (S10)” (WINNER)

The glamorous ceremony once again reinforced the growing impact of Nollywood and African entertainment on the international stage, with filmmakers and actors receiving recognition for diverse stories and outstanding production quality.
