African music stars Rema and Tyla are set to perform at the opening ceremonies of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, adding Afrobeats and African pop flavor to football’s biggest global stage.

FIFA is planning multiple star-studded opening ceremonies across the United States, Canada, and Mexico as the three nations prepare to co-host the tournament beginning on June 11, 2026.

According to reports, Rema will perform during the United States opening celebration alongside global stars including Katy Perry, Future, LISA, and Anitta.

Meanwhile, Tyla is expected to headline Mexico’s opening ceremony event at the iconic Estadio Azteca alongside celebrated Latin music acts including Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, and Los Ángeles Azules.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will reportedly feature three separate opening ceremonies tied to each host nation’s first group-stage match. Canada’s ceremony in Toronto is also expected to feature major artists including Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, and Alessia Cara.

The inclusion of Rema and Tyla highlights the growing global influence of African music, especially Afrobeats and amapiano, on international entertainment platforms.

Fans across social media have already expressed excitement over the performances, with many celebrating the representation of African artists at one of the world’s most watched sporting events.
