Job Vacancy: Danish Refugee Council Announces Chief of Party Vacancy in Abuja
The Danish Refugee Council has opened applications for the position of Chief of Party for its humanitarian consortium operations in Nigeria’s North East and North West regions.
The position, based in Abuja, will provide strategic leadership for a multi-partner humanitarian response project focused on food insecurity, acute malnutrition, protection, WASH, and resilience support for conflict and climate-affected communities.
According to the organization, the role will supervise consortium activities under the 2026 ECHO Humanitarian Implementation Plan (HIP) proposal led by DRC in partnership with Solidarités International, Impact Initiatives, Fact Foundation, CEMCEX, and FRAD.
The successful candidate will report to the Country Director and Consortium Steering Committee, while overseeing programme implementation, donor relations, coordination mechanisms, financial compliance, advocacy activities, and strategic planning across the consortium.
DRC said the consortium aims to provide integrated life-saving assistance through unconditional cash transfers, referrals for nutrition and health services, protection support, and coordinated humanitarian information management systems.
Applicants are expected to possess a minimum of seven years of humanitarian work experience, including work in displacement settings, as well as proven expertise in consortium management, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and donor-funded programming, especially ECHO-funded projects.
The organization noted that the position is open to both national and international applicants, with employment expected to begin at the end of September 2026. The contract will initially run for six months, renewable subject to grant renewal.
Interested candidates are required to submit an updated CV and cover letter in English through the DRC recruitment portal.
Applications close on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. GMT.
DRC stated that it remains committed to equal opportunity employment and encourages diversity and inclusion in its recruitment process.
