EU Delegation Opens Job Vacancy for Project Officer in Abuja, Deadline April 30
The European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS has announced a job vacancy for the position of Project Officer – Regional Cooperation (OPS2) under its Democracy, Governance and Migration Section.
The role, based in Abuja, is offered as a fixed-term contract for two years, with the possibility of renewal depending on budget availability and operational needs. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Team Leader, supporting the implementation of EU-funded programmes across Nigeria.
According to the Delegation, the position focuses on managing development cooperation initiatives, particularly those related to civil society, youth engagement, governance, and human rights.
Job Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
- Analyse developments in Nigeria’s civil society sector and contribute to policy reports
- Support engagement with government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders
- Manage EU-funded projects and grants, ensuring compliance with procedures
- Monitor and evaluate programmes using established project management tools
- Contribute to reports such as Annual Management Plans and sector reviews
- Strengthen communication, coordination, and visibility of EU development activities
The role also requires active participation in networking and policy dialogue with local and international partners, including government institutions and private sector actors.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in grants or project management
- University degree in Political Science, Law, Development Studies, or related fields
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
- Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Additional qualifications such as a Master’s degree, knowledge of French or Nigerian languages, and familiarity with EU development instruments will be considered an advantage.
