Igbos In Lagos Ready to Deliver Massive Votes for Tinubu, Hamzat in 2027 – NDI-ABAT
The NDIGBO FOR ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU 2027 FORUM (NDI-ABAT) has declared that Igbos residing in Lagos State are fully prepared to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in the 2027 general elections.
The group made the declaration in a press release issued on May 18, 2026, while dismissing reports claiming that some Igbo leaders in Lagos had placed conditions before supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
According to the forum, the reports are false and do not represent the views of genuine Igbo residents in Lagos State.
NDI-ABAT stated that it has already established political structures across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas, as well as the 376 electoral wards in Lagos, to mobilize support for Tinubu and the APC ahead of the next election cycle.
The group said the structures are aimed at preventing Peter Obi from repeating his 2023 electoral performance against Tinubu in Lagos State.
As part of its mobilization efforts, the forum announced plans to host an Igbo Town Hall Meeting on July 1, 2026, where Igbo residents in Lagos will engage directly with Hamzat to strengthen ties with the APC leadership in the state.
NDI-ABAT also expressed regret over the voting pattern of many Igbos during the 2023 presidential election, blaming the situation on grievances that existed between the Southeast and the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group, however, said Tinubu has since reassured Ndigbo of his commitment to addressing long-standing concerns affecting the Southeast.
It cited the appointment of Dave Nweze Umahi as Minister of Works as evidence of the administration’s inclusiveness, noting that he is the first Igbo man to occupy the position since Nigeria’s independence.
The forum further commended the Federal Government over ongoing infrastructure projects in the Southeast and across the country, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
According to the group, the coastal road project will boost economic development and tourism while enhancing connectivity across Nigeria.
The statement was jointly signed by the National Coordinator of NDI-ABAT, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Peter Ozor.
