Role Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring and analyzing Nigeria’s political landscape, contributing directly to German diplomatic engagement in the country.

  • Demonstrated interest in international relations and Nigerian political developments
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to attend evening and weekend engagements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Legal residency status in Nigeria

Additional Qualifications

Candidates with prior experience in embassies, international organizations, NGOs, research institutions, or media will have an added advantage.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Abuja is seeking
a full-time (40 hours per week) Administrative Officer (m/f/d) for the Political Department, starting as soon as possible.


The position is initially limited to one year, with the prospect of permanent employment.


The role encompasses the following key tasks:
— Observing and analyzing the political situation in Nigeria, particularly domestic political developments, government work, and security policy trends
— Monitoring media (print, online, social media) and evaluating relevant political discourse
— Maintaining and expanding a network of political actors, ministries, parliament, think tanks, and civil society organizations
— Preparing, accompanying, and following up on meetings, delegation trips, and political appointments; supporting the embassy’s project work in the areas of human rights and stabilization
— Assisting with the organization of political events, conferences, and background briefings
— Researching specific political, economic, or social issues


Applicants should meet the following requirements:
— Language skills:
o English: at least level C1,
o German: at least level B2.
— At least a completed Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Development Economics, Regional Studies or related fields
. — A strong interest in Germany, international relations and political developments in Nigeria.
— Teamwork skills, resilience, initiative, and enjoyment of working in a dynamic environment
— Excellent communication and social skills
— Flexibility and willingness to participate in evening and weekend events
— Proficient use of standard IT applications such as MS Office
— Residency status in Nigeria that permits this employment

Furthermore, desirable qualifications include:
— Relevant professional experience (e.g., in embassies, international organizations, NGOs , research institutions, or media)
