Former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, has praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his efforts in protecting the state from being controlled by a single individual. According to Odili, Fubara’s leadership has been instrumental in restoring a sense of satisfaction among civil servants and the general populace, reminiscent of the era before 2007. Odili also expressed optimism that God would bring to completion the positive changes underway in the state.
The crisis in Rivers State began in October 2023, with a fire incident at the House of Assembly Complex, followed by an attempt to impeach Fubara. The situation escalated with the defection of 27 Assembly members from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite the challenges, Fubara has remained committed to ensuring that Rivers State is not controlled by a single individual.
Wike’s Camp Fires Back at Peter Odili Over Comments on Fubara
Nyesom Wike’s camp has fired back at Peter Odili, former Governor of Rivers State, over his recent comments praising Governor Siminalayi Fubara for preventing Wike from controlling Rivers State. Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, expressed disappointment in Odili’s remarks, saying he has reduced himself to a ridiculous level of partisanship.
According to Olayinka, Odili should be acting like an elder statesman, not engaging in partisan commentary. He also hinted that Wike will respond to Odili’s statements soon. This development is the latest in the ongoing saga between Wike and Fubara, with Odili’s comments sparking a heated reaction from Wike’s camp.
