PSC Warns Against Illegal Fees in NPF Recruitment Process
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a strong warning to cyber cafés and recruitment agents allegedly extorting applicants seeking enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
In a statement released on Monday, the Commission said it has received disturbing reports that some cyber cafés and middlemen are demanding illegal fees of ₦15,000 and above from unsuspecting applicants, falsely claiming that the money is shared with the PSC and other government agencies.
The PSC firmly denied the claims, stressing that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force is completely free of charge, and that no applicant is required to pay money at any stage of the process.
“The Commission has not authorized any individual, cyber café, or agent to collect money on its behalf. Any demand for payment is fraudulent,” the statement said.
Prospective applicants were advised to avoid third-party handlers and personally submit their applications through the official recruitment portal at http://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
The Commission further warned that anyone found extorting applicants under any guise would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Members of the public and victims of such illegal practices were urged to report incidents to the nearest police station or directly to the PSC via 07054992071 (SMS/WhatsApp only).
