Tunisia defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in an international friendly match on Monday at the Stade Hammadi Agrebi in Tunis to kick off the action for African national teams in the June FIFA window.

An Edmond Tapsoba own goal opened the scoring after a brilliant team movement from the hosts before Tunisia forward Hazem Mastouri tapped into an empty net after tackling the ball away from Burkina Faso goalkeeper Hervé Koffi.

It was a strong performance from the Tunisian selection who controlled the match throughout and were rewarded in the second half. While Burkina Faso defended well at times and posed the occasional threat, the attack lacked sharpness led by the likes of Mohamed Konaté and Hassane Bandé as well as debutant Cyriaque Irié.

In the 61st minute, The Tunisian team launched a brilliant combination of passes from the left flank and Sayfallah Ltaief’s cross resulted an own goal after Burkina Faso defender Tapsoba was put in an uncomfortable position. The Burkinabe attacking effort improved with the introduction Bertrand Traoré but soon after the captain missed a golden opportunity, Tunisia struck again through US Monastir forward Mastouri.

Tunisia will next travel to face fellow North African side Morocco in Fez on Friday. Burkina Faso will also travel to Morocco where they clash with Zimbabwe in Casablanca, also on Friday.
