Peter Obi Officially Registers with ADC in Anambra Ahead of 2027 Election
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, completing his registration in his hometown of Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area.
Also formalising his membership is Victor Umeh, the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, who received his membership card in his hometown of Aguluzigbo, also located in Anaocha LGA.
The registration exercise was witnessed by several party stakeholders, including Ben Obi, ADC National Organising Secretary Chinedu Idigo, Afam Ogene of Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Peter Anekwe representing Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, and Lilian Orogbu of Awka South/North Federal Constituency.
Other attendees included the party’s candidate in the November 2025 Anambra governorship election, John Nwosu, his running mate Ndubuisi Nwobu, as well as hundreds of party members and supporters.
Ahead of the registration exercise, 48,900 membership cards were distributed to party leaders across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State for onward distribution to the 326 wards as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
Speaking at the event, party leaders called for an aggressive membership drive to reinforce the ADC’s political structure in the state and pledged support for Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition.
Senator Umeh noted that Anambra has about 2.8 million registered voters and urged residents to rally behind Obi in the next presidential election.
Meanwhile, the ADC National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, assured members that additional membership cards would be supplied by the party’s national headquarters to accommodate the increasing number of prospective members.
