NIS Unveils Online Platform for Expatriate Permit Applications, Ends Use of Physical Forms August 1
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the launch of a new digital platform for the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC), set to go live on August 1, 2025.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi, the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s ongoing digital reform of public services. The move is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility within the immigration system.
The new portal — https://cerpac.immigration.gov.ng — will enable applicants to submit CERPAC applications online, eliminating the use of physical forms. From August 1, all applications must be submitted digitally, with the current manual process being discontinued.
“All CERPAC applications after July 31 must be submitted solely through the online portal,” Akinlabi emphasized.
Applicants who have already paid for their permits but are yet to submit physical forms have been urged to complete the process on or before July 31, to avoid invalidation of their application and payment.
The NIS further advised both individuals and companies with pending submissions to meet the deadline to avoid inconvenience or loss of status.
“Any form not submitted before the deadline will be rendered void and invalid,” the statement warned.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to delivering technology-driven immigration services in line with global best practices, and encouraged applicants to direct all questions regarding the transition to the office of the Public Relations Officer.
This digital shift marks another milestone in the government’s broader push toward e-governance and the streamlining of essential services for improved user experience.
