In a move aimed at enhancing the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport, the Federal Government has approved an upward review of passport fees, effective immediately.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, the new fees are designed to reflect the increased cost of production and security features that will be introduced to the passport.

The statement reads: “The Federal Government has approved an upward review of Nigerian passport fees to ensure that the document meets international standards. The new fees will enable the Nigerian Immigration Service to improve the quality and security of the passport, making it more difficult for counterfeiters to produce fake documents.”

The new fees are as follows:

  • 32-page passport: ₦15,000 (up from ₦8,750)
  • 64-page passport: ₦20,000 (up from ₦15,000)
  • Emergency passport: ₦30,000 (up from ₦15,000)

The Federal Government has assured citizens that the increased fees will be used to improve the overall quality of the passport, including the introduction of advanced security features and a more durable cover.

The Nigerian Immigration Service has been directed to commence the implementation of the new fees with immediate effect.
