Seyi Tinubu Presents Appointment Letter to Obi Cubana as South East Cityboy Movement Director
Business mogul and philanthropist Obi Cubana (Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu) has been formally presented with his letter of recognition and appointment as the South East Regional Director of the Cityboy Movement, a development that marks a major turning point for the political support group.
The presentation was made by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during a ceremony that has since sparked wide public reactions both online and offline. The event officially confirmed Obi Cubana’s leadership role in coordinating and expanding the movement’s activities across the South East.
In a symbolic show of unity and commitment, Seyi Tinubu, Obi Cubana, and members of the movement belted out President Tinubu’s popular anthem, “On your mandate we shall stand…”, underscoring their passion, solidarity, and dedication to the ideals of the Cityboy Movement.
Following the announcement, Obi Cubana released a detailed statement addressing the mixed reactions trailing his appointment. He emphasized that meaningful and lasting change can only be achieved through constructive engagement, not distance.
“I bring you good tidings. Regarding my recent appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he wrote.
Reaffirming his personal values, the entrepreneur stressed that the new role does not alter his long-standing principles.
“Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership.”
Echoing remarks he made during the unveiling, Obi Cubana reiterated his stance on influence and participation.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out.”
He also described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as a fellow City Boy and man of commerce, calling for collective effort in nation-building.
“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do.”
