Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court following days in detention.

El-Rufai was earlier detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of corrupt practices.

The opposition figure is currently facing a nine-count charge linked to his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday by political commentator Imran Wakili in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been granted bail by the Federal High Court,” Wakili wrote.

El-Rufai, who also served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is undergoing trial over alleged financial misconduct during his time in office.

Recall that the former governor had earlier hinted on Monday that he would participate “in spirit” at the national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Meanwhile, members of the ADC have described his trial as part of an alleged clampdown on opposition politicians in Nigeria
