Belgium delivered a dominant second-half performance to defeat the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) 5-2 in an international friendly in Atlanta, exposing defensive frailties ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.

The Americans began brightly, taking an early lead through Weston McKennie, who capitalized on a well-worked move to put the hosts ahead. However, Belgium quickly regrouped and turned the game around with a clinical attacking display.

Young defender Zeno Debast leveled the score before Amadou Onana powered home to give the visitors the lead. Charles De Ketelaere added a third, while Dodi Lukebakio struck twice to seal an emphatic win.

Belgium’s attacking threat was spearheaded by Jeremy Doku, whose pace and dribbling repeatedly troubled the U.S. defense throughout the encounter.

The match also featured an unusual moment early on, as both teams briefly wore similar white kits, causing confusion on the pitch before adjustments were made.

A late goal from Patrick Agyemang offered some consolation for the USMNT, but it did little to mask the defensive issues that plagued the team for much of the game.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino acknowledged the shortcomings after the match, urging his players to learn quickly and show greater aggression, especially with a crucial friendly against Portugal national team looming.

With the countdown to the next FIFA World Cup continuing, the defeat highlights areas of concern for the United States, particularly in defense, as they prepare to host the global tournament.
