2027: ADC Leaders Meet Turaki-Led PDP Faction in Abuja Amid Opposition Realignment Talks
ABUJA — Key figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are currently holding a high-level meeting with leaders of the Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
The closed-door meeting is taking place at the residence of former Senate President, David Mark, and has drawn prominent political stakeholders across party lines.
Among those in attendance are the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, alongside other influential figures.
Sources familiar with the development say the meeting is focused on forging a united opposition front capable of challenging the ruling party in the 2027 elections. The talks are believed to centre on coalition strategies, leadership structure, and possible electoral alliances.
The emergence of factions within the PDP has continued to shape opposition dynamics, with the group aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, currently recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the legitimate leadership of the party.
This recognition has further complicated internal party cohesion, prompting parallel political engagements such as the ongoing Abuja meeting.
