In a dramatic turn of events, protesters participating in the #EndBadGovernance demonstration in Abuja have refused to be redirected by the FCT Commissioner of Police, insisting on marching towards Eagle Square.

The standoff began earlier today at the National Stadium, where protesters had initially gathered. The Commissioner attempted to confine the protest to the stadium, citing a court order, but the protesters argued that the order did not specify that they must remain within the stadium premises.

Despite the heated argument, the protesters remained resolute, and have now redirected their march towards Eagle Square, where a significant security presence has been deployed. Interestingly, some police vehicles are escorting the protesters, who continue to chant slogans such as “We Are Hungry” and “Police Are Hungry”.

However, the Police has used teargas to disperse protesters at the moment.

This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as the situation unfolds.
