Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has officially acquired a 25 percent ownership stake in Spanish club UD Almería, further expanding his footprint in global football investments.
The deal was completed through Ronaldo’s company, CR7 Sports Investments, as he joins a consortium led by Saudi businessman Mohamed Al Khereiji and his SMC Group, which currently holds majority control of the club.
Almería, who were relegated from La Liga in 2024, are mounting a serious push for an immediate return to Spain’s top flight. The Andalusian side currently sit third in the Segunda División standings with 48 points from 27 matches, just four points behind leaders Racing Santander.

In a statement following the announcement, Al Khereiji described Ronaldo as “the best player in history,” emphasizing that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner understands the club’s long-term vision and potential.
Ronaldo, who continues to build an impressive business portfolio alongside his legendary playing career, expressed optimism about the club’s trajectory.
“Almería has strong foundations and enormous growth prospects. I’m excited to be part of this project and contribute to its future success,” Ronaldo said.
