Wizkid Breaks Attendance Record at Lagos Homecoming Concert
Global Afrobeats star Wizkid has shattered attendance records in Lagos after headlining a massive homecoming concert that drew tens of thousands of fans to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).
The singer performed at the sold-out “G.O.A.T. Experience” concert on December 28, surpassing his previous 2018 record of about 40,000 attendees at the same venue. This time, the crowd reportedly overflowed beyond the 56,000-capacity TBS, with fans spilling into surrounding areas as excitement reached fever pitch.
Performing under what organisers described as Africa’s largest concert stage, Wizkid thrilled fans with a hit-filled set that included crowd favourites such as “Joro,” “Essence,” “Ojuelegba,” and “Kese.” The performance was elevated by energetic Yoruba traditional dancers, striking visuals, and booming sound that echoed across the historic square.

At several points during the show, the Starboy paused to acknowledge his team, giving special shout-outs to DJ Tunez, his band, and his fiercely loyal fan base, popularly known as FC. The crowd responded with deafening cheers, singing along word for word to nearly every song.
The concert attracted several high-profile guests, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who made a brief appearance, and music stars such as Tiwa Savage, further adding to the electric atmosphere of the night.
Fans later took to social media to share videos, photos, fan art, and personal accounts of the concert, with many joking about losing their voices, shoes, or clothes in the excitement and crowd surge. Clips from the event quickly went viral, with fans hailing the show as one of the biggest live music moments in Nigeria’s history.
The record-breaking turnout further cements Wizkid’s status as one of Africa’s most influential and commercially successful music artists, and reinforces Lagos’ reputation as a major global hub for live music and entertainment.
