The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned owners of event centres, hotels and other public facilities in Abuja against allowing their premises to be used by illegal organisations.

The administration said any property found hosting gatherings organised by unlawful groups risks losing its title documents, stressing that land allocations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are meant strictly for lawful activities.

The warning was contained in a statement issued on Friday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, .

According to the statement, the FCTA said security monitoring of event centres, hotels and public buildings would now be intensified as part of efforts to protect lives and property in the nation’s capital.

The administration explained that the move was necessary to prevent facilities from being used by illegal organisations for activities capable of threatening public peace and security.

The statement urged owners and managers of hotels and event centres to properly verify organisations seeking to rent their facilities and ensure that such groups operate within the law before approving bookings.

“In view of the need to further ensure the security of lives and properties in the FCT and sustain the efforts of security agencies in this regard, usage of Event Centres, Hotels and other public buildings will now be closely monitored,” the statement read.

The FCTA also directed facility owners to keep proper transaction records involving groups and organisations using their premises.

Speaking further, the administration warned that during the ongoing political season, hotel and event centre operators must only deal with leaderships of political parties recognised by the .

It added that failure to comply with the directive would attract sanctions, including revocation of land titles attached to affected properties.

The development comes amid heightened political activities across the country ahead of future elections, with authorities increasing measures aimed at maintaining security and public order in the Federal Capital Territory.
