Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Eberechi Eze after dramatically beating north London rivals Tottenham to his signature.

The Gunners have agreed a deal worth £60 million, plus an additional £7.5m in add-ons, to trigger the Crystal Palace midfielder’s release clause. Eze, a boyhood Arsenal fan, underwent his medical at the club’s training centre on Friday.

Although the England international is not expected to feature in Arsenal’s clash with Leeds this afternoon, he could make his debut in next week’s high-profile encounter against Liverpool. Spurs, meanwhile, are scrambling to secure an attacking reinforcement as the transfer window edges toward its deadline.

In another headline-grabbing development, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak issued a fiery statement this week, accusing the club of “broken promises” and a “loss of trust.” Liverpool, long-linked with the Swedish forward, reportedly tabled an offer of £110m, but it fell short of Newcastle’s valuation. Manager Eddie Howe described Isak’s comments as “a sad moment.”

Elsewhere, Manchester United’s goalkeeper conundrum continues. The club is weighing up a move for 23-year-old Senne Lammens of Belgian side Antwerp, though Manchester City are also monitoring the player. United striker Rasmus Hojlund, meanwhile, has emerged as a possible target for Serie A champions Napoli.
