The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has successfully restored National Identification Number (NIN) verification services across Nigeria following the completion of crucial system maintenance that disrupted services in recent days.

In an official statement released on Friday, the Commission confirmed that all previously affected services have resumed normal operations.

“NIMC wishes to inform the general public that the recent technical maintenance has been completed and all services have been restored,” the statement read.

Self-Service for Data Updates

In a bid to enhance service accessibility and efficiency, NIMC also announced the launch of a mobile application to enable Nigerians to modify their personal data linked to their NIN without visiting physical offices.

The app, NIMC NameAuth (oath.app), is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, allowing users to verify and authenticate their NINs and request changes such as name corrections and other updates.

Public Advisory

The Commission advised Nigerians looking to enroll for NINs or update their records to visit its official website to locate the nearest enrollment centres or make use of the self-service portal.

NIMC also expressed its gratitude to the public for their patience during the downtime, which had caused temporary disruptions for institutions like banks, telecom operators, and government agencies that rely heavily on real-time NIN verification.
