Singer Ruger Reveals How Early Heartbreak Made Him Toxic

Nigerian music star Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has opened up about how a childhood heartbreak deeply affected him and shaped his behavior as he grew older.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Bro Bants podcast, the Toma Toma hitmaker recalled his first emotional trauma at just six years old. According to Ruger, a much older lady who used to affectionately call him her “boyfriend” left him heartbroken after he unknowingly witnessed her in an intimate moment with another man.
“The last time I experienced heartbreak, I was really young,” he said. “There was this aunty I liked. She would always call me ‘my boyfriend,’ so I believed she was mine. But one day, I saw a man having sex with her through a window. It shattered me. I cried and even started singing ‘Imagine That’ by Styl-Plus. That’s when I became toxic.”
