President Tinubu Departs for Europe Ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break and in preparation for an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, December 28, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu left the country ahead of his scheduled participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit.

The Nigerian leader was invited by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to attend the global summit, which will take place in Abu Dhabi early in January 2026.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a weeklong annual event that brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape strategies for the next phase of global sustainable development.

The ADSW 2026 Summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on connecting ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, while showcasing practical solutions to advance sustainable growth worldwide.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
