Omah Lay Celebrates First Grammy Nomination with Davido on ‘With You’

Nigerian afro-fusion star Omah Lay has expressed excitement after earning his first-ever Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Davido, titled “With You.”

The smooth Afrobeats record received a nod in the Best African Music Performance category, marking a major milestone in Omah Lay’s fast-rising global career. The nomination was announced last November as part of the lineup for the 68th Grammy Awards.

“With You” blends laid-back rhythms with emotional lyricism, showcasing the chemistry between the two Nigerian superstars. The category itself highlights Africa’s growing influence on the global music scene and features a strong Nigerian presence, including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and Davido, alongside South Africa’s Tyla and Ugandan music icon Eddy Kenzo.

Following the announcement, fans flooded social media to congratulate Omah Lay, while also playfully teasing him over past comments where he suggested he did not care much about awards. Responding to the reactions, the singer admitted that while accolades were not his main focus, the Grammy nod meant a lot especially because of Davido.

Omah Lay described Davido as his “realest friend,” noting that he genuinely wanted the recognition for him, making the nomination even more special.

The 68th Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Trevor Noah returning as host. Anticipation is high as African artists continue to command global attention on one of music’s biggest stages.
