MANCHESTER UNITED APPOINTS RUBEN AMORIM AS NEW HEAD COACH
Manchester United Football Club has officially announced Ruben Amorim as the new head coach of its men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.
The 39-year-old Portuguese international signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils, keeping him at Old Trafford until June 2027, with an option for an additional year.
Amorim will bring his wealth of experience to Manchester United, having won two Primeira Liga titles with Sporting CP in Portugal, including the club’s first title in 19 years.
“Ruben Amorim is an exciting and highly respected coach with a proven track record of success,” said Manchester United’s Football Director. “We believe he has the skills, passion, and vision to take our club forward.”
Amorim began his playing career with Benfica in 2003 and transitioned into coaching with Olhanense in 2018. He then managed Sporting Braga for one season before joining Sporting CP.
The Portuguese manager will officially take the reins on November 11, 2024, after fulfilling his obligations to his current club. A formal unveiling is scheduled for the same day.
Amorim replaces Erik ten Hag, whose contract was terminated following a series of poor results since the beginning of the 2024/25 season. The final straw came after Manchester United’s shocking defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium on October 27, 2024.
Manchester United fans will be eager to see the impact Amorim will have on the team’s performance and whether he can restore the club’s glory days.
