Kaduna State House Assembly sets up committee to probe El-Rufai’s loans

The former Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been on the news lately:

• Malam Nasir El-Rufai, said that fuel subsidy is back, but many Nigerians do not know and that Tinubu is paying more than before.
• A political ally of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, was arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, and she alleged that she was harassed and beaten while in custody, However Aisha Galadima has been released.
• Nasir El-Rufai also advised President Bola Tinubu to drop any of his appointees who failed to deliver on his mandate.
• Also Ex-spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation, Daniel Bwala, also alleged tht there’s an ongoing plot by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 Presidential Election, Peter Obi, to dump LP and join immediate past Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has commenced probe of the finances, loans, and projects of the Nasir El-Rufai administration between 2015 and 2023.

The Assembly on Tuesday, at a plenary, set up a 13-man ad hoc committee to investigate the financial transactions, loans, grants, and project execution under the Nasir El-Rufa’i government. 

The member representing Kaura constituency, Hon. Yusuf Mugu, moved the motion on matter of public importance that the loans borrowed during the administration of the former governor should be probed.

The House Speaker, Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman, who presided over the plenary, tasked the ad hoc committee to invite all the relevant stakeholders for questioning and investigation of the matters, such as the former speakers of the 8th and 9th Assembly, commissioners of finance, former managing directors of Kaduna markets, and commissioners of budget and planning, among others.

It could be recalled that Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State recently disclosed that his administration was not finding it easy to run the affairs of the state due to the huge debt profile incurred by the past administration of Nasir El-Rufai.
