Filling Stations Shut Down After Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Prices
Several fuel stations and marketers associated with the Dangote Refinery have temporarily shut operations for the past five days following a reduction in the refinery’s petrol prices.
According to News men, filling stations like MRS along Abuja’s Kubwa Expressway have not sold fuel since Tuesday, April 16, 2025, when Dangote Refinery lowered its ex-depot petrol price to N835 per litre.
An MRS staff member, who requested anonymity, revealed that the station couldn’t sell its existing fuel stock without incurring losses due to the sudden price drop. “That’s why we closed since Tuesday. We might resume sales on Tuesday,” the official said.
Another employee cited minor maintenance work as the reason for the closure, adding that the station plans to reopen and sell at the new price of N910 per litre from Tuesday.
Meanwhile, other Dangote partners such as AP, Ardova, and Optima have started selling petrol at prices ranging from N910 to N920 per litre across Abuja.
