Thousands gathered at Enugu Stadium for Ebuka Obi’s Zion Crusade, where he announced a ₦100 million giveaway and alleged Enugu state govt sent security operatives to his hotel.
Thousands of worshippers thronged the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Saturday for the Zion Crusade organized by the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, despite reported tension in parts of the city.
The early-morning programme attracted massive crowds seeking prayers for healing and deliverance. Attendees shared testimonies during the event, with some claiming restored mobility and relief from chronic pain following prayers led by the cleric.
Addressing the congregation, Ebuka Obi announced a ₦100 million financial giveaway for attendees from the Southeast, drawing loud cheers from the packed stadium.
The cleric also alleged that officials in Enugu sent police officers and suspected thugs to his hotel earlier that morning. According to him, he had left the premises after receiving a tip-off. As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Enugu State Government or security agencies regarding the allegation.
Supporters described the turnout as evidence of divine favour, even as reports indicated temporary roadblocks and heavy traffic around the stadium. Critics, however, linked the large gathering to worsening economic hardship and unemployment in the region, arguing that financial incentives may have influenced attendance.
Security operatives were present around the venue to maintain order and manage vehicular movement as the programme progressed.
