BREAKING: Kwankwaso Resigns from NNPP
Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Kwankwaso described his exit as a difficult but necessary decision in view of the evolving political landscape in Nigeria.
The former NNPP National Leader expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party, particularly as its presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections.
“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party with immediate effect,” he stated.
Kwankwaso noted that recent political developments in the country have made it imperative for him to seek a new platform capable of delivering meaningful change.
“Considering the current trajectory of the nation’s political landscape, which calls for strategic realignment, I have found it necessary to identify with another political platform that offers the best opportunity to effectively change the nation,” he added.
He also extended appreciation to the NNPP leadership, including the National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and party members across all levels.
Kwankwaso further acknowledged the support of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, assuring that collaboration towards national development would continue despite his departure from the party.
The resignation comes amid growing political realignments ahead of future electoral cycles, with observers expecting a possible defection to another major political platform.
