Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has formally accepted his appointment as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.

In a statement released in Abuja on Saturday, the former Zamfara State governor said he accepted the assignment with a strong sense of responsibility.

“I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude and full seriousness. My sincere thanks go to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party for the trust placed in me, and to our party leadership for the confidence. I do not take it lightly,” Yari said.

Yari: Campaign Is More Than an Election

The APC campaign council DG described the upcoming campaign as more than a contest for political power, saying it would provide an opportunity for the party to engage directly with Nigerians across the country.

According to him, the campaign would involve conversations with Nigerians across different states, languages, faiths and political backgrounds about the future of the country.

“A campaign is more than an election. It is a conversation with the Nigerian people in every state, every language, every faith about the future we are building together,” he said.

Yari pledged that the campaign would be guided by discipline, unity and respect for all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations.

‘Work Begins Immediately’

The senator said the campaign council would begin its work immediately, stressing that there would be room for every member of the party to contribute to the APC’s efforts ahead of the 2027 election.

He also appealed to Nigerians across political divides to support what he described as progress rather than division.

Yari said the APC would seek to win public confidence through its record in government rather than relying on political rhetoric.

“To Nigerians of every political leaning, I urge a choice of progress over division,” he said, adding that the party would earn public confidence through its record “rather than noise.”

Yari Targets APC Victory in 2027

The acceptance of the appointment comes shortly after the APC constituted its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.

President Tinubu is chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda were named vice chairmen.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was appointed Secretary of the council.

Yari’s appointment places him at the centre of the ruling party’s efforts to secure victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The senator concluded his acceptance statement with a pledge to deliver victory for the APC.

“By the grace of God, and with the effort of us all, we will deliver victory in January 2027,” Yari said.

His appointment is expected to intensify the APC’s preparations for the 2027 election as the ruling party begins to build its campaign structure across Nigeria.
