FG Releases Terror Financing List, Names Simon Ekpa, Tukur Mamu, 46 Others
ABUJA — The Federal Government has released a list of 48 individuals and entities allegedly linked to terrorism financing, in what authorities describe as a major step toward dismantling financial networks fueling insecurity across the country.
The list, published on Saturday by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee, includes persons and groups suspected of supporting extremist and proscribed organisations such as the Indigenous People of Biafra, Ansarul Sudan, and Islamic State West Africa Province.
High-profile names on the list
Among the most prominent individuals named is Simon Ekpa, a separatist figure linked to a faction of IPOB.
Ekpa was reportedly sentenced on September 1, 2025, by a Finnish court to six years in prison after being found guilty of terrorism-related offences, including incitement and participation in a terrorist group.
Also listed is Tukur Mamu, a Kaduna-based media figure currently standing trial over allegations of terrorism financing. Arrested in 2022, Mamu faces multiple charges filed by the federal government, including claims of providing logistical and financial support to terrorist groups. He has denied all allegations.

The move comes amid intensified efforts by Nigerian authorities to cut off financial lifelines sustaining terrorism, banditry, and separatist violence.
Officials say the sanctions framework allows for asset freezing, financial surveillance, and restrictions on transactions linked to the listed individuals and organisations.
Security analysts note that targeting funding channels is increasingly seen as one of the most effective strategies in weakening armed groups operating across Nigeria.
