“I’m Sorry, My Daddy” — Desmond Elliot Publicly Apologises to Gbajabiamila Amid Political Tension
Desmond Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has publicly apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila over alleged political misunderstandings linked to recent tensions within Lagos politics.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC’s Your View programme on Friday, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and expressed regret over any offence he may have caused during the course of political activities.
“I’m not saying, oh, yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” Elliot stated.
The apology comes months after controversy surrounding the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis, during which Gbajabiamila claimed he nearly lost his position as Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over intelligence reports allegedly linking Elliot to moves aimed at impeaching Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Although Elliot had denied the allegations at the time, he admitted during the interview that misunderstandings are inevitable in political relationships.
“To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way,” he said emotionally.
The actor-turned-politician also extended an apology to what he described as the “matriarch of Surulere,” while reiterating his commitment to strengthening the ruling party and serving constituents effectively.
“But I will keep keeping the party strong. And to all Surulerians, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place,” he added.
The development has generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians debating loyalty, mentorship, and political reconciliation within the Lagos political structure.
