VP Shettima Departs Abuja for 80th UN General Assembly in New York
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja, Nigeria, for New York, United States, to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), scheduled to take place from Monday, September 22 to Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the high-level global gathering, Vice President Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the General Debate and participate in several high-level meetings and side events.
A key highlight of his visit will be the announcement of Nigeria’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, during a special UN event focused on global climate action.
