Rihanna’s nun-themed magazine cover prompts social media backlash

Billionare Fenty CEO Rihanna stirred up a godly amount of online debate Tuesday after posing as a sexy nun for the cover of “Interview Magazine.”

The 36-year-old singer donned a black and white habit, the traditional attire worn by sisters dedicated to a life of religious observance. But Rihanna put her own spin on the garment, wearing an unbuttoned blouse that exposed her cleavage.

The cover image also showed the pop icon wearing baby blue eyeshadow, bright red lipstick, and a small black cross tattoo on her left cheek.

While some Instagram and X users applauded Rihanna for the daring work, many took issue with the provocative take on religious imagery.

It Is Sacrilegious And Disrespectful to Catholics, self-proclaimed life coach Solomon Buchi Solomon Buchi Reacted to Rihanna’s Seductive Nun Shoot for Interview Magazine.

This came after Rihanna posed as a sultry nun during a photo session for the magazine Interview.

Solomon called the image sacrilegious and demeaning to Catholics and Christians in general in a post he published on his X account.

He penned

‘’Rihana did this shoot depicting a sexualized nun, and it is sacrilegious and disrespectful to Catholics and the Christian faith in general. Every element of the Christian faith is worthy of reverence and respect from non-Christians. It worries me how Christians hype celebrities who constantly disrespect the most important figure in their lives.

Most of you wouldn’t take anyone disrespecting your physical family like this, you’d cut them off, but Rihanna can disrespect your faith, and you’d still stan her, because your religion isn’t that deep for you?

These worldly celebrities can be creative and artsy without soiling symbols of the Christian culture.”

Other Nigerians have also condemned the shoot, saying celebrities never have the courage to mimic clerics of other religions in such a disrespectful manner.
