Nollywood Actor, Mr Ibu, Laid to Rest in Hometown

The funeral for veteran actor John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, was held in Enugu, following his death on March 2. Last October, he publicly sought financial help due to his prolonged illness, and in November, his family revealed that one of his legs was amputated to save his life.
The funeral for the late actor, which was held on Friday in Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, was attended by family, friends, colleagues and fans. Notable people in attendance include the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, and actors such as Patience Ozokwor and Angela Okorie.

Mr Ibu’s burial ceremony opened with a novelty match on June 25, followed by a candlelight procession the following day. A wake-keep ceremony at the actor’s compound was held on Thursday, while a thanksgiving service will be held on June 30 .
