The development comes shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump redesignated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over alleged religious persecution and issued strong remarks about potential military involvement in combating Islamist militancy.
While acknowledging U.S. support in counterterrorism efforts, Nigeria’s presidency has emphasized that the nation’s sovereignty and internal security decisions remain non-negotiable. Officials say the renewed ambassadorial appointments will help reinforce diplomatic engagement with major partners, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and China.
