Ronaldo Welcomes AFCON Hero Sadio Mané Back to Al-Nassr with Cake and Cheers
Cristiano Ronaldo led Al-Nassr players and staff in a warm celebration as Sadio Mané returned to training on Friday, fresh from captaining Senegal to their second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in four years.
Mané helped Senegal secure a dramatic 1–0 extra-time victory over Morocco in the AFCON final, capping an impressive tournament where the 33-year-old winger was named Player of the Tournament after recording two goals and several assists.
In a video shared by Al-Nassr titled “Welcoming back our champion,” Mané arrived at the club’s training ground wearing his Senegal national team kit to loud cheers, laughter, and applause from teammates. Ronaldo, visibly delighted, joined in the celebrations as Mané was presented with a cake in recognition of his continental triumph.
The heartwarming moment highlighted the Saudi Pro League’s growing appreciation of African football stars. Al-Hilal also staged a similar reception for Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who played a key role in the AFCON-winning campaign.
With AFCON duties concluded, Saudi clubs are now refocusing on domestic competitions, boosted by the return of their African internationals as the league heads into a crucial phase of the season.
