MTN Nigeria has officially opened applications for the 2026 edition of its Media Innovation Programme (MIP), a flagship fellowship aimed at equipping Nigerian journalists and digital content creators with critical skills for the rapidly evolving media landscape.

The six-month, fully funded initiative is delivered in partnership with the Pan-Atlantic University through its School of Media and Communication. The programme is designed to strengthen professional capacity, encourage innovative storytelling, and help participants adapt to the technological changes reshaping the media industry.

In a significant development, MTN Nigeria announced an expansion of the fellowship cohort from 20 to 25 participants for the 2026 cycle. The increase forms part of activities marking the company’s 25th anniversary.

Applications are currently open via the official portal [https://mtnmip.smc.edu.ng/] and will close on April 22, 2026. The programme is open to media practitioners and digital content creators working across print, broadcast, online, and social media platforms, particularly those demonstrating a commitment to impactful storytelling and continuous professional development.

Successful candidates are expected to commence the fellowship in May 2026.

Speaking on the initiative, Chief Corporate Services Officer of MTN Nigeria, Tobe Okigbo, reiterated the company’s commitment to strengthening the media’s role in fostering democracy, accountability, and national development.

“The Media Innovation Programme reflects our commitment to supporting the growth and evolution of the media industry by providing access to knowledge, exposure, and meaningful engagement with the realities shaping it,” Okigbo said.

He added that the expansion to 25 fellows underscores the company’s 25-year milestone and highlights the importance of continued investment in media professionals and ideas that will shape the future of journalism in Nigeria.
