APC Fixes Presidential Form at N100m, Unveils 2027 Election Timetable
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its official timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, setting nomination costs for presidential and governorship aspirants at N100 million and N50 million respectively.
The timetable, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, outlines key dates for the sale of forms, screening, primaries, and appeals.
According to the document, the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms will commence on April 25 and close on May 2, 2026. Submission of completed forms is scheduled to end on May 4.
The party fixed its presidential primary election for May 15–16, while other primaries will follow: House of Representatives on May 18, Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and governorship primaries on May 23, 2026.
Appeal processes will begin shortly after each primary, with the presidential appeal slated for May 18 and governorship appeals concluding on May 25.
Breakdown of Nomination Fees
The APC pegged the cost of forms as follows:
- Presidential aspirants: N30 million (expression of interest) and N70 million (nomination)
- Governorship aspirants: N10 million (expression of interest) and N40 million (nomination)
- Senate: N3 million and N17 million respectively
- House of Representatives: N1 million and N9 million
- State House of Assembly: N1 million and N5 million
The party added that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will receive concessions, paying for the expression of interest forms and only 50 percent of the nomination fees.
Concerns Over High Costs
Reacting to the development, the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Transparency International Nigeria (TIN) expressed concern over what they described as the “monetisation of democracy.”
Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, warned that the high cost of forms could exclude young people, women, and credible aspirants without substantial financial backing.
He noted that the development risks encouraging corruption, as candidates may attempt to recover campaign expenses through illicit means if elected.
Rafsanjani also argued that such fees could weaken internal democracy by limiting competition and promoting the imposition of candidates.
CISLAC urged the APC and other political parties to review and significantly reduce nomination fees to promote inclusive participation and strengthen democratic processes.
The organisation also called for broader waivers and subsidies to support women, youths, and persons with disabilities in the electoral process.

The timetable outlines, among other activities, timelines for screening, appeals, and primary elections, as well as directives on the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms.
The APC reassures members, stakeholders, and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election that will further strengthen the Party’s internal democracy and consolidate its progressive ideals.
