BREAKING: Peter Obi Defects to ADC, Vows to End Election Rigging

Former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obi, who spearheaded Labour Party’s historic performance in 2023, joined the opposition coalition party on Wednesday in Enugu State.

The defection ceremony is currently ongoing at the Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, and has attracted national leaders and key stakeholders of the ADC, alongside supporters from across the South-East and beyond.

Speaking at the event, the former Anambra State governor said his decision to join the ADC ahead of the 2027 presidential election was driven by the need to rescue and transform Nigeria.

Obi also issued a strong warning against electoral malpractice, vowing to resist any form of rigging in the next general election.

“We are ending this year with hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey,” Obi declared.

“We will resist election rigging by every lawful means in 2027,” he added.

The move is expected to significantly reshape Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of the 2027 polls.
