Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Accuses Senate President Godswill Akpabio of Ordering Passport Seizure at Abuja Airport

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of orchestrating the seizure of her international passport by immigration officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when Akpoti-Uduaghan was reportedly stopped by officers who, according to her, claimed they were acting on “orders from above.” The 45-year-old lawmaker went live on social media during the confrontation, demanding the immediate return of her travel document.

In the video, she stated that there was no legal basis for the action, especially following President Bola Tinubu’s reported withdrawal of all politically motivated cases against her.

Her passport was released shortly after the broadcast, following widespread outrage and solidarity from Nigerians on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The episode adds a new layer to the ongoing political tension between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio, who have been at odds since her emergence as senator.
