Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has once again returned to his childhood community of Olusosun in Lagos State, a place he describes as the foundation of his remarkable journey from poverty to global football stardom.

The Nigerian international was warmly welcomed by residents, friends, and young football fans as he walked through the streets where he grew up. Videos and photos circulating on social media showed large crowds celebrating the return of the African football icon, who has made it a tradition to visit the community whenever he is back in Nigeria.

Osimhen’s visit was more than a homecoming it was a reminder of his inspiring rise. Raised in the Olusosun community near one of Lagos’ largest landfill sites, the striker endured severe hardship during his childhood, selling sachet water and newspapers to support his family before football transformed his life.

Speaking previously about his frequent visits, Osimhen said returning to Olusosun keeps him grounded and reminds him of where his journey began.

“I always visit Olusosun anytime I’m in Nigeria because that’s where my story started. It reminds me of the struggles, the people who believed in me, and why I must never stop working hard,” he said.

The 27-year-old has consistently maintained close ties with the community despite his success in Europe. In previous visits, he returned to Olusosun Primary School, his alma mater, where he presented his CAF African Player of the Year award to pupils and reunited with former teachers and childhood friends.

Now starring for Galatasaray and serving as one of Nigeria’s biggest football exports, Osimhen remains a symbol of hope for many young Nigerians. His latest visit inspired hundreds of children who gathered to catch a glimpse of the striker, reinforcing the belief that humble beginnings need not determine one’s future.
