“Stop Laying Claim To Our Ancestral Land” Ugwuaji Awkunanaw, Obeagu Ugwuaji Warns Emene Community
Addressing news men in Enugu after their meeting, one of the spokesmen of Ugwuaji Community Barr Sunday Ngene condemned in strong terms the purported claim by Emene community to their ancestral land. He described the statement credited to Emene community as ‘Mala Fide’.
The people of Ugwuaji Awkunanaw and Obeagu Ugwuaji have warned Emene community to stop laying claim to their ancestral land.
Rising from a crucial meeting in Enugu yesterday May 25, the community expressed their disappointment over what they described as frivolous and baseless statement attributed to Emene community that was circulated by some media houses last week in which Emene community claimed ownership of Akani Layout.

He warned that the peaceful disposition of Ugwuaji Awkunanaw and Obeagu Ugwuaji should not be misinterpreted to weakness. Barr Ngene who is also the President General of Ugwuaji Town Union advised Enugu State Government under the leadership of the peace loving Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to be wary of land grabbers who now disguise as Emene community with known intent to mislead the government to take possession of Ugwuaji land, knowing that the said land historically does not belong to them.
Also Speaking, the Palace Secretary of Ugwuaji Awkunanaw, Hon Chief Bob Titus Ugwu (JP) warned Emene Community to steer clear of their ancestral land. He described as Laughable, the purported claim of their land by Emene community. He stated that the said statement is a Joke taken too far. He reiterated the resolve of the Greater Ugwuaji community to protect their ancestral heritage. He also said that Ugwuaji Community welcomes any initiatives of the state government that will bring development to the community so long as they are adequately compensated.
