Liam Rosenior Takes Charge as Chelsea Head Coach, Oversees First Training Session

Liam Rosenior has officially begun work as Chelsea’s new head coach, overseeing his first training session on Thursday following his appointment earlier this week.

The 41-year-old, who signed a long-term deal running until 2032, was unveiled on Tuesday after Enzo Maresca’s departure on New Year’s Day. Rosenior arrived at Cobham with several trusted backroom staff from Strasbourg and also promoted caretaker coach Calum McFarlane into his technical team.

Chelsea currently sit eighth in the Premier League, having collected 31 points from 21 matches, following a mid-season slump that stalled momentum despite last season’s UEFA Conference League triumph.

Rosenior is widely regarded for his youth development expertise, built during spells at Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County, and there is growing optimism within the squad that his progressive approach can spark a turnaround in form.

The former defender faces an immediate test this weekend, as Chelsea travel to face Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup, a fixture that will mark his first match in charge of the Blues.
