FC Barcelona Beat Real Madrid to Win Record 16th Spanish Super Cup Title

FC Barcelona have once again asserted their dominance over eternal rivals Real Madrid, defeating Los Blancos 3–2 to lift a record-breaking 16th Spanish Super Cup title in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Catalan giants retained the trophy on Sunday night thanks to a brilliant brace from Raphinha and a crucial goal from Robert Lewandowski, capping off another dramatic El Clásico on neutral soil.

Raphinha Shines as Barca Deliver

Just like in the semi-final victory over Athletic Club, Raphinha proved decisive, emerging as Barcelona’s match-winner in the final.

After a cautious opening 30 minutes, Barcelona gradually took control of the game. The breakthrough came in the 36th minute, when Raphinha fired a low shot past Thibaut Courtois to give Hansi Flick’s side the lead.

Real Madrid responded swiftly through Vinícius Júnior, who produced a moment of individual brilliance — nutmegging Jules Koundé before finishing calmly past Joan García to restore parity.

However, Barcelona struck back almost immediately. A perfectly weighted pass from Pedri released Lewandowski, who cleverly lifted the ball over Courtois to make it 2–1.

Madrid were not done yet. Gonzalo García reacted quickest to a rebound late in the first half to make it 2–2, sending fans into raptures at the interval after a sensational opening 45 minutes.

Second-Half Drama Seals Barca Triumph

The second half saw fewer chances, but the decisive moment arrived shortly before the cooling break. Raphinha’s effort took a deflection off Raúl Asencio, wrong-footing Courtois and handing Barcelona a 3–2 lead.

Despite sustained pressure and five minutes of stoppage time, Real Madrid failed to find an equaliser as Barcelona held firm to secure their second consecutive Super Cup triumph in Saudi Arabia.

The victory marks Hansi Flick’s fourth trophy with FC Barcelona and his third final win since taking charge. It also extends Barca’s recent resurgence, as the German coach continues to deliver on his promise of steady improvement following earlier setbacks against Madrid and Chelsea.
