….INEC Urges Nigerians to Beat Deadline as Final Phase of CVR Exercise Ends July 10…

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has renewed its appeal to eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise before it closes on Friday, July 10, 2026.

The electoral body said the third and final phase of the nationwide voter registration exercise commenced on May 11, 2026, and represents the last opportunity for eligible citizens to register or update their voter information ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

INEC encouraged Nigerians who have recently attained the age of 18 and those who missed earlier registration phases to complete their registration before the deadline. The commission also advised already registered voters to use the exercise to transfer their registration to a new location, correct personal details, or replace lost and damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

According to the commission, citizens can begin the process through its dedicated online portal and subsequently complete the required procedures at designated registration centres nationwide.

INEC stressed the importance of early participation, urging Nigerians not to wait until the final days of the exercise when registration centres may experience increased turnout and longer queues.

The commission noted that the second phase of the CVR exercise was suspended in April to allow for the clean-up of the voter register following the publication of the register for claims and objections. The final phase resumed on May 11 and will officially conclude on July 10.

As part of the electoral process, INEC also announced that the Register of Voters will be displayed nationwide for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026. The exercise is designed to enable citizens to scrutinise the register and help ensure its accuracy, completeness and credibility ahead of future elections.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible voter registration exercise and called on all eligible Nigerians to participate.

With just weeks remaining before the deadline, INEC emphasized that voter registration is the first step toward participating in the democratic process and shaping the country’s future through the ballot box.
