The outcry of people living in the South East over the raging insecurity breakdown in some parts of Ihiala Local Government Area and Ekwusigo Local Government Area on 12th February 2024 has raised more tension as the two local government areas is said to be under siege by Nigeria’s military said to be in search of Indigenous People Of Biafra IPOB activists believed to be the masterminder and sponsors of major attacks on police headquarters.
Josephine Obina gathered that the attacks has left police properties burned, police cars destroyed, and other equipment missing and further creating unrest within the region as a result of tensed security issues.

Reports indicate that several IPOB members are allegedly behind these attacks following the crackdown on their activities in the state. Among those allegedly targeted for arrest by the military and police are Mr. Emeka Obi, their leader known as Stone (37 years old), Mr. Mike Eke (35 years old), Mr. Kizito Mbadugha (36 years old), Mr. Emma Obika (20 years old), Mr. Stephen Ibe (42 years old), Mr. Victor Mbadugha (29 years old), Lady Mary Anagwu (28 years old), and many others, who are accused of perpetrating crimes in the state.
The Nigeria Police Force in a swift response has said they are committed in bringing to book the culprits behind all the act “We are not going to relent until these culprits face the law,” authorities stated.
